Social Search: Results Influenced By Friends →
Google’s vice president of Search Products & User Experience, Marissa Mayer, talked to VentureBeat about social search. She first gives a real-word example: «Social search happens every day. When you ask a friend “what movies are good to go see?” or “where should we go to dinner?”, you are doing a verbal social search. You’re trying to leverage that social connection to try and get a...
Permission Marketing →
Permission marketing is the privilege (not the right) of delivering anticipated, personal and relevant messages to people who actually want to get them. It recognizes the new power of the best consumers to ignore marketing. It realizes that treating people with respect is the best way to earn their attention. Pay attention is a key phrase here, because permission marketers understand that when...

Photographer of the week: Don Cohen →
I have decided to spice the Photographer of the week a bit so I went in a quest to find different photographers shooting various subjects !
This week I was lucky to meet Don that was kind enough to accept my invitation as photographer of the week on adidap.
Don is an accomplished bird photographer. In fact Don loves nature photography but his favorite subject is birds and I must admit he...
Did you double-dip? →
The value of my Clemson diploma just went up.
A Clemson prof has prooved double dipping a chip is bad.
The way I would put it is, before you have some dip at a party, look around and ask yourself, would I be willing to kiss everyone here? Because you don’t know who might be double dipping, and those who do are sharing their saliva with you.
In a similar study, he also found that the 5-second...

My daily LOST →
Guess what? Yeah, LOST starts up for real tonight. But you knew that.
Yeah, there was an “enhanced” replay of the season 3 finale last night. But you knew that too.
Here’s what you don’t know: I’m a new blogger for the Daily LOST!
I made my first post today about the start of the 2008 LOST schedule.
So I won’t be posting about LOST here anymore, however, every time I post anything on the new...
Kid Fit Challenge in Orlando →
Did you know that one third of the children in Central Florida are overweight (that’s not counting us kids at heart)? Well on Saturday 09 February here in Orlando something is going to be done about it.
No, we’re not all eating chicken-fried bacon or hamburgers from a can.
Instead there’s going to be an attempt to set a world’s record for the most kids participating in a simultaneous exercise...
You never get a second chance to make a good first... →
Here’s the thing: When you create a customer outreach program, or some sort of sustainable, long-term word of mouth movement, you better make damn sure that you have all your “t”s crossed and “i”s dotted. Because if you try to do it on the fly, copy what others have done or pontificate on it for a bit and then rush into a hap-hazard program, you’re screwed. The thing about those folks that love...

Inflatable Mouse →
The device itself is fairly simple: a small flexible circuit board inside a body that is composed of plastic and can be blown up manually. When not in use, it can be de-flated and folded into a compact size or slid between the screen and keyboard of your laptop when it’s closed.

I Voted →
I did my civic duty today and voted in the Florida primary. My sticker says that “I made freedom count” today. Seems kinda special.
Before I voted I asked the lady who was winning so far. She wouldn’t tell me.
I hope I picked the right person.

A Quiet Super Bowl Ad →
The Super Bowl is known for great commercials. Well, another great one is going to be shown that I think everyone should catch. Fortunately it’s online already. It’s called Bob’s House. Unfortunately I can’t embed the vid here so follow the link.
Bob’s House. Don’t adjust your speakers; this upcoming Super Bowl ad was created and enacted by deaf people.

CBS has officially renewed Survivor and re-hired its host Jeff Probst for two more seasons. That means the show will continue through next spring, its 18th season. The 17th season has been casting since last year, and “[f]ilming is presently scheduled to occur in late June- mid-August 2008,” according to the application. In a press-release-like quote included in The Hollywood...

Back to the days of 3.5 →
My aunt snail mailed us a .jpg file on a 3.5″ floppy disk. What in the world am I supposed to do with that?
Might as well send me .mp3 files on an 8-track.
No, that analogy probably isn’t right. An 8-track would go with the 5.25″ floppys and the 3.5″ floppy would go with a cassette tape. I think.
Oh it doesn’t matter. I did find a spare internal 3.5″ drive from a laptop I had several years ago...

Central Florida Flickrs is 2 Today →
Happy Birthday to a group/community I started 2 years ago today: Central Florida Flickrs.
I started it 2 years ago today because I saw a need for people on Flickr who lived in the same area to share their work. There was already a group called “Orlando, Florida”. It is for photos of Orlando. I created “Central Florida Flickrs” for people of Central Florida.
If you are a photo taker and live in...

24 observations about 24 →
My wife and I finished a ‘24′ marathon this weekend. We borrowed the DVDs for season 1-5 in December. This weekend we knocked out season 5. Friday we watched 8 hours. Saturday was 9 hours. Today was 7 hours.
A friend at church said, “That’s like a full-time job!”
I almost feel as tired too! But it was fun. We’re going to take a break before Season 6 for a few reasons: 1 - we don’t have the DVDs...

Starbucks Drive-Thru Ordering Tips →
This is awesomely funny. Six tips from a Starbucks Drive-Thru Barista:
Please place your order at the speaker box, this is common to all drive-thrus and it is the same for this one.
When I say I cannot take your trash from your car and dispose of it for you because it is a health violation, don’t yell at me.
If I ask you “Hi! How are you today?” when you pull up to the speaker, it is really...
