PSA: Make a New Year’s Day Checklist →
Before I get into this post, I just have to say that I found on amazon something quite humorous. Did you know people sell used batteries on the internets? I had no idea.
Anyway, I’m trying to make a habit out of a few things to do on New Year’s Day:
Change Batteries: and I mean everywhere in the house. Most importantly are the smoke alarms. Almost just as important are the remote control...

Read the Bible Chronologically in a Year →
There are a lot of books, reading plans, and online resources to help you read through the Bible in a year. Many of them move you back and forth between reading parts from the Old Testament and parts from the New Testament. I’m not really a fan of those because I feel like I’m missing the bigger story.
One of the things that almost every plan has is a checklist for every day (read this today,...

updating my tumblr
I’m playing around with tumblr again…took out some feeds, consolidated a bit, and got it cleaned up. Not sure what I’ll do with this, but for now it’s the River Orangejack. That is, the river of news flowing from my personal blog, flickr, twitter, del.icio.us, and you tube.
Christmas Eve in Florida - A Reading →
One of the most beloved Christmas poems is Twas the Night Before Christmas. But since we’re experiencing our first Florida Christmas, the poem just wasn’t relevant enough.
So I rewrote it. Or translated it. Or whatever you might call it.
May I present to you, for your listening enjoyment, Christmas Eve in Florida.
Oh yeah, feel free to download it and put it on your iPod or play it for your...

Merry Christmas Adam! →
My family and I have a small and kind of silly tradition today. We wish each other, and everyone else, a “Merry Christmas Adam!” today because it’s December 23.
You see, tomorrow is Dec 24 which is Christmas Eve. Adam was before Eve. Therefore today, Dec 23 must be Christmas Adam!
Yeah, it’s silly, but it’s a fun little tradition for us.

Instead of publishing one “Year in Review” post, we decided to break up the year as posts per month. However, now that we’ve made the 12+1 posts, I want to create this sort of index page for the year in review.
Overall, it was a busy but good year for us. God has done a lot in us, with us, and through us. We’ve be reassured that He is always with us, encouraging us, being patient with us, and...

Well I do it sometimes and it’s kinda fun. I run across all sorts of interesting things as I piece together a bigger picture.

@Jack : yes, I suppose we could. I’m not sure where their offices are located and I know it’s not along our normal routes. We just put them all in the recycle bin. But what kills me is that we’re not a customer of them and they can’t stop sending it to us because they can’t put a “stop order” on us since we don’t have an account!

I got so ticked off last week when we got four (4!) huge, heavy Yellow Pages from Bell South and AT&T. It’s such a waste of energy, space, resources, and time. I took ours from the front door and took them straight to the recycle bin.
I haven’t used any of these books for years. I use google. Just search and you’ll get the phone number. Just that easy.

Dare I ask why you cut down those beautiful trees in your front yard? In Florida, I thought we homeowners cherish any trees we can find in our yards these days. So sad….

After spending most of April in Asia, it was good to be home for a while. We spent the entire month at home. It was time for me to finally slow down and decompress since the last 6 months had been huge for me traveling to Africa, Europe, and Asia to minister to and with our staff.

@Kevin : oh so sorry. it’s not just the leaves…it’s the trees too.
@Jack : you listed a motivation, not what’s missing (though oh so true).
So sorry guys, but I can’t accept your answers.
The answer I was going for was 1. the truck was moved, 2. a tree was removed, 3. another tree was removed.
Thanks for playing and better luck next time.

You moved the truck so the trees wouldn’t fall on it when they were cut down.
